PC2 Relay senses Reactive KVA of the system
and controls the Power Factor by limiting the RKVA within
preset limits. It switches capacitors in equal stages.
The Relay comprises of a RKVA sensing unit
with adjustable limit settings to keep P.F. within desired
limits. This sensing unit operates a reversible motorized switching unit (available in 4 to 20 stage operation) to
switch capacitors through suitable contactors.
Besides the above basic configuration there
is supply failure protection to automatically reset the relay
to zero position on resumption of supply and prevent leading
power factor. The Relay also has an on-Board testing facility
for checking the operation of the Relay during maintenance.
SPECIAL FEATURES :
- Heavy Duty Electromechanical Relay that can withstand
high system harmonics and surges, and is simple to
maintain.
- Immune to switching surges of Capacitors.
- Provides dual Time Delay i.e. between stage to stage and
also between switching ON & OFF/ OFF & ON of any
stage. This ensures protection of capacitors and
contactors even during extreme fluctuations of load.
- Senses RKVA hence no dead band is required for low load
conditions.
- When used on L.T. It can be set to compensate for the impedance
of Transformer. This is specially useful for P.F.
improvement during low loads or no load conditions.
